Ambient Temperature Impact

There are sometimes situations at users locations where the pump is located in an area exposed to ambient temperatures as one would expect by being outside or in un-temperature controlled rooms.  There can be difficulties sometimes with cold starting of the pump.  The oil in most of the vacuum pumps has a pour point of roughly 5-15 degrees F.  If the temperature is below this then the oil in the pump is not fluid and will cause difficulty in starting the pump or the pump may not turn over at all.

The solution for this is to install a oil sump heater in the pump itself and have a time / temperature rise in the oil prior to starting the pump.  We have incorporated this solution into the pump designs before and it seems to serve the purpose.
