How is the pump
driven? Is it a belt drive or direct drive vacuum pump? Its a belt drive pump.
Its a direct drive pump.
I dunno. Need a little help here folks
we need to at least know that before we can
identify it for you. A belt drive pump has a belt guard on side of the pump, a direct
drive doesnt. The belt guard is a rounded piece of sheet metal. A direct drive
is directly coupled to the motor using a coupling device generally referred to as a
"coupling and spider" combination.
Dimensions of HyVac Vacuum Pumps.
Is there a name plate on
side or front of pump? Yes please write it down.
Direct Drive Vacuum Pump
30L and HyperVac pumps should have information on front of pump where the
sight glass is.
55L pumps have information on the side, near the handle.
HyperVac pumps have the model and serial information next to the sight glass.
Is there a catalog number and usually starting with a 9 and being
formatted like 9XXXX-XXX and 8 digits long?
Yes. If it is there please check for a serial number while you are
looking there?
On pumps before 1979, the serial number was just a number.
On pumps after 1979 the serial number became date specific and varied to a degree
format wise but usually the first 6 digits are the manufacturing date. Example 09098501
meaning manufactured Sept. 9, 1985. Write these down and GO Back
